Event Information

During COP26 in Glasgow, several governments of the G7 launched a new cooperation model called Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) with South Africa. The goal of this partnership is to accelerate the decarbonisation in countries that are critical for the achievement of the goals of the Paris Agreement. At the same time it will be essential to ensure a socially just energy transition. JETPs must involve the action and cooperation between various actors including investment banks, the industry, governmental officials, and the civil society. This panel will discuss what roles private actors should actually play in JETPs. The latest developments in South Africa will also be touched upon in order to identify and collect valuable lessons-learned for future partnerships.
