The challenges facing ambitious climate action in times of multiple crises underline the importance of action-relevant and reliable information from science for fact-based climate policy. The proposed Science for Action Evening at the German Pavilion is intended to provide a stage for "best available science" for the UNFCCC process and the implementation of the Paris Agreement.
The “Science for Action” evening aims to increase the value of scientific findings and the importance of the IPCC for the climate negotiations. The topics "Drivers, impacts and risks of climate change", "Measures to mitigate and adapt to climate change" and "Barriers to and opportunities for transformative action" will be addressed in an interactive workshop-like format. Three inputs from high-ranking IPCC experts from the previous assessment cycle, the current assessment cycle and GST Technical dialogue will provide the starting point for the discussion.
