Ceremonial Event: Deepening Collaboration On Carbon Pricing

14:00 – 14:15(Istanbul, GMT+3)

As a key policy instrument for driving industrial transformation, carbon pricing can help create incentives for emissions reductions while providing a predictable framework for investment in low-emissions production. International cooperation on carbon pricing can further help to promote a level playing field, reduce risks of carbon leakage, and facilitate greater alignment between emerging carbon pricing approaches and MRV systems.

Against this backdrop, Germany will formally commit to strengthen their bilateral cooperation on carbon pricing with international partner countries in this ceremonial event. The event underscores the political importance of enhanced cooperation and builds on intensified technical collaboration under the newly launched project by the BMUKN-funded International Climate Initiative (IKI) “Fit for Carbon Pricing.”

The event will provide an opportunity for the Ministers to share their perspectives on carbon pricing and industrial transformation.
