Dr. Ingrid Jacobsen is an advisor for food security, climate and agriculture at Bread for the World. Until April 2021, she worked on urbanization and rural development. Current work focuses on climate justice and land use, food security in rural and urban areas, and the right to water. She studied geography of developing countries in Berlin and worked for several years as a consultant for various development policy organizations. In 2004, she received her PhD on the topic of poverty-oriented urban development of developing countries. This was followed by further consulting and lecturing activities as well as a working stay of several years on the topic of urban development in South Africa. She joined Bread for the World in 2015.
