Biography

Liburn Aliu started his political activity in 1994 with activities within the National Movement for the Liberation of Kosovo. He was a political prisoner and a survivor of the Dubrava Massacre. He has been part of the VETËVENDOSJE Movement! since its inception, contributing to the advancement of the right to internal and external self-determination that belongs to Kosovo. Liburni has also been part of every legislature since VETËVENDOSJE! first participation in elections. In the last elections, he won the mandate of deputy for the 5th time, from where he later resigned to exercise his new duty and responsibility as Minister of the Ministry of Environment, Spatial Planning and Infrastructure. Liburn Aliu holds a degree in Architercture at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture at the University of Prishtina and has worked as an architect in high design, construction, and restoration of valuable cultural heritage monuments. He has also served as director of the Directorate of Urbanism in the Municipality of Prishtina, where he is known for his work in the digitalization of urbanism, standardization of building permits, and for bringing urban order in the city of Prishtina.
