Dr. Oliver Geden is a Senior Fellow at the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP) in Berlin, Germany. His work focuses on the European Union’s climate and energy policy, carbon dioxide removal, solar radiation management governance, and the quality of scientific policy advice. He has been Lead Author for Working Group III & Member of Core Writing Team for Synthesis Report Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC AR6 WG III & SYR). Oliver received a MA and PhD in Social and Cultural Anthropology from Humboldt University Berlin. He has been a visiting scholar at the University of California Berkeley, the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, the University of Pennsylvania, the Max Planck Institute for Meteorology and the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis. During his time at SWP, he has been seconded to the German Federal Foreign Office’s policy planning unit, and to the policy planning division of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy.
