Biography

Dr Anna Lührmann has been Minister of State for Europe and Climate at the Federal Foreign Office since December 2021 and represents the Rheingau-Taunus - Limburg constituency in the German Bundestag. A transparent and cooperative political style, plenty of political and international experience, scientific expertise and a lot of verve - that's what she stands for. Since her youth, Dr Anna Lührmann has been committed to protecting the climate and strengthening the European democracy. At the age of 19, she became the youngest member of the Bundestag. Dr Anna Lührmann is European at heart. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the Open University of Hagen, a Master's degree in Gender and Peace Studies from Ahfad University in Sudan and another Master of Arts in Research Training in Social Sciences from Humboldt University Berlin. She worked at a Swedish university from 2015 to 2021 after completing her doctorate in Political Science on democracy promotion in Berlin and Barcelona. She was a member of the European Affairs Committee and the budget Committee of the German Bundestag and worked there for a stronger and more democratic EU.

Dr Anna Lührmann is convinced that we can only solve global crises together, and the European Union plays a central role in this. We need a united Europe for effective climate action.
