Jochen Flasbarth

Biography

Since 2021 Jochen Flasbarth is State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. Previously he was State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (2018 – 2021) and the Federal Ministry for Environment, Nature Conversation, Building and Nuclear Safety (2013 – 2018). From 2009 to 2013 he was the President of the German Environment Agency. Prior to that (2003 – 2009) he was the Director-General for Nature Conversation and Sustainable Use of Natural Ressources at the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety. From 1994 to 2003 he was the President of the Nature and Biodiversity Conservation Union (NABU).

Jochen Flasbarth studied economics, politicalscience and philosophy in Münster and Bonn graduating with a degree in economics.
